The pictures show a job where space was limited. Under normal conditions, hoisting men in a basket for a day or even a couple days can be achieved with a boom truck or a hydraulic truck crane. Rough terrain cranes, by their nature (because they need to be trucked in at an additional cost), usually sit on job sites for a longer period of time (weeks-months). In this situation, however, a rough terrain was trucked in because of the tight spacing. The shorter length of the crane allowed it to stuff itself in the corner as you can see from the pictures.
