This job took place in Fairfield, CT at a residential home.  Arboreal Tree Service was commissioned to remove a triple stem Hemlock Tree.  The tree was in the back yard, the crane had to set up in the driveway and reach over the garage.  The long boom on the 33 Ton allows us to fit into tight spaces where putting on a jib is impossible.  The next size crane that could perform a task like this without putting a jib on is a 70 Ton.  Using a 33 Ton boom truck, rather then a 70 is a significant savings for both the tree company and the customer.

The addition of our first National 1400 33 Ton Boom Truck provided us (and our customers) the ability to do jobs that required a much larger crane in the past, saving our customers $1,000′s of potential dollars.  It became such a popular piece of equipment we acquired 2 additional 1400′s.

What makes this crane so versatile is it’s long hydraulic main boom and a compact, low weight design.  It allows us to maneuver in tight urban settings where putting on a jib could be impossible, the 1400 allows us to complete jobs on the main boom instead of sending out a bigger crane.

This crane has been very popular with tree services in suburban areas.  It’s light weight and maneuverability does less damage to property, it has better chart capacity then other boom truck options, and the long main boom allows tip height without having to put a jib on.

Residential Tree Removal in Fairfield, CT

The 36,000 pound excavator in the video was placed in a courtyard to do some work at Yale University in New Haven, CT. The only way to get something of that size in and out of the courtyard was to hoist it over the historic buildings with our Grove 275 Ton All-Terrain Crane. Having the capacity to lift something like this is the easy part, but having the skills and know how to do it tactfully and safely, over historic buildings, with college students near by, at one of the most prestigious universities in the world is what we pride ourselves on.

The job you see here featured in this video took place in Hartford, CT.  A sewer line that was too big to fit under a structure had to be split into 3 smaller pipes.  The piece in the video is the precast concrete basin that splits the large pipe into the 3 smaller.

The piece weighed approx 90,000 pounds, hoisted from the street, swung over and lowered approximately 15-20 feet into a hole.  Once it was lowered to the bottom of the pit, it was hovered centimeters above the ground and had to be slid under the lip of the large pipe.  The entire job was done with our Grove GMK 5275 275 Ton All Terrain Crane.  But the crane was configured as and billed as a 180 ton crane.  The 5275 is a versatile crane that can be configured as a 180, 210, or a 275 ton crane, providing our clients with the right crane for their project at the right price.

This monster was big and heavy.  Our customer National Breaker Service in Derby, CT bought a press to use in their factory and needed our rigging division to help them set it in place.  According to the manufacturer of the press the weight was supposed to be 36,000 lbs, but when we hooked it up to the line of our 60 Ton Grove Truck Crane the true weight was slightly over 44,000 lbs.  This is not an unusual situation when dealing with older machinery equipment.  Sometimes older information is inaccurate and it’s tough to estimate accurate weight.  Our seasoned crew of riggers are always prepared for situations such as this and finished the job with ease.

The press was delivered on a tractor trailer bed, hoisted off with a 60 ton crane, then rigged inside the building using the crane, rigging skates, hydraulic lifts, and a 15,000 lb fork lift.

Cranes of this size require multiple loads of counterweight to travel separately from the crane itself because of state weight limits. At full capacity the 275 ton requires 4 loads of counterweight to be delivered. If a smaller crane (180 or 210 ton) is required, not as many counterweight loads need to be sent out with this crane. This allows us to save our customers money by providing them with the capacity needed. One crane, different counterweight configurations, different capacity options, different price scales.

As a result of the “crackdown”, it is has now become policy for the scrap yards to require written documentation from any company or individual disposing of an old air conditioning unit at a local scrap yard. The written documentation can either be in the form of a sticker or decal on the side of a unit, displaying the signature of the technician and the date reclaimed, along with the company name or it can be in the form of a letter, displaying the same information. Each and every unit that A-Quick Pick Crane Service disposes for a customer MUST BE RECLAIMED OF ALL REFRIGERANT!

Because of the new policy, A-Quick Pick Crane Service has been forced to follow suite. A-Quick Pick Crane Service is now requiring this documentation from all contractors requesting us to dispose of their old air conditioning units. In addition, we can no longer transport old air conditioning units back to our yard and store them for a period of time before they are reclaimed.
